What are caregiver courses?

Caregiver courses are cpd courses. Many people are looking to going into caregiving especially at this time when there's immigration opportunity in Canada for caregivers. Some people believe that certain life experiences that they have eg motherhood or caring for their aged parents or grandparents has prepared them enough to be able to enter this industry. Having informal training gives you the experience to deal with certain problems in the job, however, going through a formal training course gives you more edge from others seeking the same job and helps you get hired.

How i got a Caregiver job in Canada (from Nigeria)

Although many people will tell you that you can't get a job in Canada without the help of family and friends, it is very possible to get a job in Canada without any contacts there. I should know because i got a caregiver job without refferal to my employer by family or friends. How you can get a Caregiver job in Canada? A. Take a course . Usually in Canada caregivers undergo college training as personal support workers (PSW), Continuing Care Aides(CCA) etc these training take anywhere between 6months to 9months to complete and can cost at least $3,000CAD. However because of the urgency or high demand for caregivers, some caregiving companies can hire workers without the PSW or CCA certification and give them in house training. This is the equivalent of CPD courses. A  prospective employer will like to see that you have already taken some of these courses, this shows that you have some level of competence and interest in the caregiving industry and that you know and f...

WHAT IS CAREGIVING: my experience so far

Since 2019 after Canada launched her caregiver immigration pilots there has been a tremendous increase in interest in caregiving as a career. Even i myself applied to the home support worker immigration pilot in March 2020 and i wrote this blog to show people how to do it themselves, however after waiting for nearly 1 year, 6months without response from the Canadian immigrations, i decided to change my focus to the UK. I applied to a UK university, got admitted to study a Masters degree and i went off to the UK in January 2022 to start my new life with my family (i will finish the story about my Canadian Caregiver journey in another post). Whilst studying in the UK, the easiest job i could find to do was the caregiving job. It was as easy as apply today, start within 5 days (if you applied to a care agency) A lot of people do not fully understand who a caregiver is and what type of work they do or even the types of settings where a caregiver can work. The work of a caregiver is no...
